We had yet another routine ultrasound this morning to check on the girls.
Both babies look great, growing just like they should be, as is Mommy, too. I've gained a total of 16 pounds in 23 1/2 weeks, which the midwives and doctor tells me is perfect. To be honest, it's a little scary to me because I only gained 19 pounds with my entire pregnancy with Aidan. My blood pressure was a nice 118 over 52, which they were also happy with. And my fundal height (height of the uterus) measured 28 cm, which is equal to (a singleton's) 28 weeks pregnant.
Baby A is very, very low in my uterus - she keeps punching my cervix (and, oh boy do I feel it). She is head down, but we're telling her not to get any ideas about wanting to come out and meet us just yet. We're not ready for her (or her sister)! Her heart rate was a strong 142 beats per minute and she weighed in at a healthy 1 pound, 5 ounces.
Baby B is also doing very well - she, too, is very, very low in my uterus. She is also head down - it's funny to see both girls kicking each other. Today Baby B got the brunt of the kicks - Baby A was kicking her right in the face! Baby B's heart rate was a strong 158 beats per minute and she weighed in at a healthy 1 pound, 4 ounces.
This friday marks the twenty-four week point in this pregnancy, which is when the girls' become viable outside the womb. This is a milestone we're looking forward to reaching, although I've warned the girls' that they will be in BIG trouble if they decide to be born anytime sooner than 35 weeks!
We are scheduled for another ultrasound (and another prenatal appointment) for two and a half weeks from today.
