Father/Son Time

Alex and Aidan spent the majority of the day together, just the two of them. I was at a bridal shower so they got to spend some quality Father/Son time today. Alex has informed me that they had a good time - had a lot of laughs (which isn't unusual seeing as how Aidan laughs so easily for Alex (and not for me!). Aidan only took a half hour nap (as opposed to a one to two hour nap for me), but he wasn't cranky so I guess it's okay. He knows that he can get away with things with Daddy and he takes advantage of that fact to the fullest!!!

When I got home, Alex and Aidan had a surprise waiting for me. Seems as if they took a trip to Toys R Us and bought a pool! The kiddie pool we had for Aidan was great, but it was kind of a pain because we were constantly emptying and refilling it because it got so slimy with icky bacteria. It was a chore.

I'd mentioned to Alex that we should look into maybe getting one of those "blow up" pools with filters next summer. They're kind of expensive, though, so we agreed to "think about it." Well, surprise, surprise, there was one set up in the backyard, being filled with water! Alex said he got the last one at Toys R Us... it was on clearance (normal price ~$149.99; clearance price $69.99!).

Needless to say, Aidan and I had to take a quick dip (even though the pool was still being filled!). The pool is HUGE (compared to Aidan's kiddie pool) and we're looking forward to spending lots of time in it for the rest of this summer and the summers to come.

We are so going to TRU in the morning! I hope they still have them at our store. :)

(Sad that we've only used our inflatable pool twice during this sweltering summer!).
