We like leaving little mementos at Michael's gravesite from time to time. Every single one has a special meaning to us, meaning the "emotional" value is so much more than the monetary value. While in Walt Disney World last month, we purchased a special photo magnet frame for Michael. We put a picture of Aidan in it and left it at Michael's gravesite. We took our time picking out something really special for Michael while we were on vacation, and this was what we decided on. Here's a picture:
Well, we went to the cemetery this afternoon to visit Michael, expecting to have a quiet moment remembering our beautiful little boy. We never got that quiet moment. What we felt instead was sadness, anger, and pity. We were very sad to see that someone had not only STOLEN our special memento from our son, but angry as well. And not only did they steal the magnet, they were kind enough to remove the picture of Aidan and leave it at the gravesite. How thoughtful. I guess all I can feel is pity towards whoever stole from our dead son. That is just so sad...
What angers me even more, however, is that this is not an isolated incident. In August, Michael will have been buried there for two years. And in the past two years, we've had at least four incidents of Michael's items being stolen. There have also been countless incidents of other baby's items being stolen, as well. We've contacted the cemetery about each incident, but they haven't done anything about it. We intend to contact the cemetery, once again, but, quite honestly, we don't expect anything to be done about it.
