We had a routine OB visit (with the midwife) and ultrasound this morning for the twins. Everything looks great - the babies continue to grow and thrive. Each and every time we get to see them on ultrasound is so reassuring for me.
Baby A was moving and kicking all over the place like a little jumping bean. And... the big news... It's a GIRL! She is measuring 17w3d (I am currently 17w3d, so it's as perfect as we can get) and she is currently underneath her sibling. Her heart was beating at a very healthy 153 beats per minute. Baby B is almost sitting on top of Baby A's head, which is so funny to watch.
Baby B also measured 17w3d, so we're very pleased that they're both right on track with weight and measurements. The ultrasound technician estimated their weights at around 7 oz, which is about half a pound. His/her heart was beating at a nice 144 beats per minute. Grow, babies, grow! Baby B was also very stubborn today, not wanting to show us his/her "parts." He/she not only had his/her legs crossed in front of his/her private area, but he/she was also covering it with his/her hand! The ultrasound tech said that her gut tells her it's a girl, but we'll (hopefully) find out for sure at the next ultrasound.
As for mommy, I'm doing great. I stayed exactly the same weight as at my last appointment (four weeks ago). I knew that I had lost weight while we were sick, so I guess I just gained it back. Even though I stayed the same weight, my belly has definitely grown. This time, my fundal height (size of uterus) measured 24cm -- that's equal to a 24-week singleton pregnancy! Also my blood pressure was nice and low - 115 over 62 and there was no protein or sugar in my urine, which is great.
We have another ultrasound scheduled in two weeks, and a routine OB appointment scheduled in four weeks. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy each and every little kick and bump from these kids (girls?)...
